Cable Services Group,  Marketing Manager Huw Evans is raising money for Nightingale House Hospice this month by challenging himself to walk /hike 100miles during the month of January.

“I wanted to start 2022 with a challenge that would motivate me. Those that know me, would say I am never in the house so it was always going to be an outdoor challenge. I live in a beautiful part of Wales along the Dee Valley so what better way to get out and challenge myself to walk/ hike or run a total of 100miles over the month of January. Breaking it down, an average of just over 3 miles a day to achieve my target.  Once id started , I  did realise quite quickly, I would need to do a few night walk as im in work in the day, but I have been getting out in my lunch hour and clocking  some miles in walking around the Wrexham Industrial Estate.  After day 12 of 31, I am currently at 36.57miles so on course. Still a way to go, but will push through with the help of my kids which Im hoping to drag along for a few walks over the weekends.  

In regards to who I am raising money for, I have chosen Nightingale House Hospice. I know at first hand the work which is done at the hospice and what great service and comfort they have provided for many families over the years. I have worked with the team there for a few years now , as they are the chosen local charity of the  Cable Services Group.  Its important that we all recognise the importance of supporting hospices such as Nightingale House, especially after the last couple of years of difficulties which many sponsored events having been cancelled which does have a massive impact on the income coming into the hospice.

Up to now, Ive managed to get some lovely walks in , including beach walks at Criccieth (in the dark)  and Treaddur Bay,  and a few around the mountains of Llangollen.

Here’s hoping for some nice weather over the next few weeks.”
